Wagga City Wanderers was Established October 2014 under Football Wagga Wagga Association to grow football in the Wagga Wagga, Riverina and surrounding areas by participating in the State League competition under Football NSW.
In the last 3 years Wagga City Wanderers have established strong relationships with Football NSW, fellow competitors, Business Partners, local clubs, and the local community, but more importantly the club has contributed to the development of all it’s members in football and being strong community representatives.
In the first year of competition Wagga City Wanderers was represented by a men’s first grade and under 20 teams with this expanding to include under 18 over the last two years. This structure will continue through 2018.
In the 2018 season Wagga City Wanderers travel to Sydney, Central Coast and South Coast 7 times to compete with 15 games played at home at Gissing Oval
Wagga City Wanderers also conduct Development Programs through the Wanderers Academy, and competes with SAP 9-12yrs boys and girls and u13-16 Junior boys and girls teams The Academy consists of approximately 220 young players in State competitions & Gala Days including having the largest representation of any Club or Association club at the 2017 Kanga Cup. The Kanga Cup is a week-long international youth association football tournament held annually in Canberra, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
Relationship with Sydney FC
The Wagga City Wanderers and Football Wagga Wagga are partners with Sydney FC. This means we have access to various aspects & opportunities associated with Sydney FC, winners of the 2017 A-League Competition.
Sydney FC run 2 School holiday camps for young players each year. There are opportunities for our players to trial (by invitation) for the various Sydney FC Squads. Our coaches have been invited to attend high level training camps with the A-League team and work in a professional environment. We also have their logo on our clothing.
